چکیده

We propose and demonstrate the time stretch optical header recognition technique where a high speed header is extracted and slowed down by more than an order of magnitude, in optical domain, to facilitate the capture and processing in electronic domain. The technique can be implemented in continuous time or discrete time. Both implementations are experimentally demonstrated for stretching a 10 Gb/s header by a factor of 20. Eye diagrams and Q values are generated to evaluate the quality of stretched headers. While both implementations are capable of slowing down the header bit rate, each method has its own advantages and disadvantages in terms of bandwidth, maximum header length, latency, and sensitivity to the sampling clock jitter. 2004 Elsevier B.V. Outing S Chemes for D Isk G Raphs and P Olygons

Routing in networks is a fundamental problem that occurred in the 1980’s and was well studied since then. However, there are still open problems, which have not been solved until now. In this thesis we propose routing schemes for special graph classes. Let G = (V,E) be a weighted network or graph. For any two nodes p, q ∈ V I would like to be able to route a data package from p to q. A routing ...

A Novel MicroPhotonic Structure for Optical Header Recognition

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a new MicroPhotonic structure for optical packet header recognition based on the integration of an optical cavity, optical components and a photoreceiver array. The structure is inherently immune to optical interference thereby routing an optical header within optical cavities to different photo receiver elements to generate the autocorrelation function...

Passive and active optical bit-pattern recognition structures for multiwavelength optical packet switching networks.

Next generation High-Speed optical packet switching networks require components capable of recognising the optical header to enable on-the-fly accurate switching of incoming data packets to their destinations. This paper experimentally demonstrates a comparison between two different optical header recognition structures; A passive structure based on the use of Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs), where...

Demonstration and Performance Analysis for the Off-Ramp Portion of an All-Optical Access Node

Ultrafast processing of packets is demonstrated and the performance analyzed for the off-ramp portion of an alloptical access node. The off-ramp consists of synchronized fiber lasers driving an all-optical header processor that includes nonlinear optical loop mirrors (NOLM), electrooptic router, and demultiplexer in the form of a two-wavelength NOLM. We achieve switching contrasts of 1O:l for t...

Optical packet transmission in 42 . 6 Gbit / s wavelength - division - multiplexed clockwork - routed networks

The use of amplitude-modulated phase-shift-keyed (AM-PSK) optical data transmission is investigated in a sequence of concatenated links in a wavelength-division-multiplexed clockwork-routed network. The narrower channel spacing made possible by using AM-PSK format allows the network to contain a greater number of network nodes. Full differential precoding at the packet source reduces the amount...
